Volleyball Newcomers Look to Add to Strong Foundation
2025 class brings versatility and production to Fisk
NASHVILLE (June 26, 2025) – The foundation of any successful building project relies on strategic planning and robust groundwork. This philosophy underpins the program led by Fisk University Volleyball Head Coach Jessica Enderle . With both returners and this year's recruiting class converging, the stage is set for Fisk to demonstrate the outcomes of their concerted efforts.
"We essentially had to rebuild after the COVID year," stated Enderle. "Securing 20 victories over the past two seasons is testament to our persistence. I am confident in the team we have assembled this year. The synergy between our returning players and new additions will elevate our performance. I eagerly anticipate bringing everyone together."
The foundational team members include NAIA All-American outside hitter Reagan Jones, who is entering her junior year. Jones combines athletic prowess with strong volleyball intelligence. Senior Nialah Gupton, serving as a vocal and exemplary libero, brings unwavering leadership. The team also welcomes back 2023 conference Freshman of the Year Nephthys Re after her hiatus last season. Additional returners include Laila Esters, Delaney Farver, La'Niyah Lumpkins, and Kaidence Morton.
This year's roster expansion features eight newcomers: three transfers and five freshmen. Transfers from NCAA Division 1 South Carolina State University include Kaia Barnett, who will enhance the setter rotation options, and Trinity Stevenson, who will compliment Gupton defensively. Florida A&M transfer Shelby Chamblin adds further experience.
Among the freshmen, Paige Browning (Hillsboro High School) and Niamiah Taylor (Ensworth High School) share a unique connection; both hail from Nashville and come from Fisk legacy families. Browning's mother Tiessa Browning and Taylor's parents Robert and Adjoa Taylor are esteemed Fisk alumni, with Taylor's sister Naomi graduating recently.
Freshmen Jayla Bond (6'3") and Chennille McClellan (5'11") will compete for the middle position previously held by Sydney Willis. Morgan Walters (5'11") will learn from some experienced outside hitters.
The team aims to achieve significant success this season, including qualifying for the NAIA National Tournament.
Dog Bites:
- Last season's 23 victories marked the highest win total for Fisk in the modern era.

- Several newcomers arrive with existing connections to Fisk Volleyball:
Jayla Bond played high school volleyball alongside former Lady Bulldog Aaliyah Bethea.
Kaia Barnett was a club teammate of both former player Sydney Willis and current Lady Bulldog Nialah Gupton.
Nephthys Re coached Morgan Walters and previously played club volleyball with Trinity Stevenson.
