Dawgs Fall to #8 Freed-Hardeman
Late first half run was the key to Fisk dropping nonconference game.
NASHVILLE - Blake Goodman scored 25 points off the bench, Tyon Thompson added 17 and Jayden Lockett added 11 but it was not enough as the Fisk University Bulldogs (13-13) lost to the eighth ranked Freed-Hardeman Lions (21-4) 91-63 in nonconference play from Nashville.
The Bulldogs kept the game close early and took their final lead of the game at 24-22 with 7:28 left in the first half on a basket by Michael Ashley. From there, the Lions went on a 18-3 run to finish the half up 42-27. Freed forced seven turnovers during that stretch and scored 13 points off of turnovers. The second half was much of the same as they scored 11 of the first 13 points to take a 53-29 lead. The Lions kept the pressure on going up by as many as 32 points. Fisk cut the lead to 22 but couldn't get any closer.
"All season we have been playing good in spurts but struggle putting a full forty minutes together," said Fisk Head Coach Kenny Anderson. "That team we played tonight has 10 guys that they use. Coach (Drew) Stutts has them rolling. They are one of the best teams in the country for a reason. We played NCAA schools this year and they might be the best team we have played."
