Fisk Soccer Gets Shut Out Win In 6-0 Victory Over Oakwood
MADISON, Tn.- Junior Ramone Lewis scored two goals, classmate Christian Heffner had a goal and two assists and goalkeeper Aaron Genus recorded a shutout as the Fisk University Bulldog Soccer Team defeated Oakwood University 6-0.
"It's a great feeling to start the season with a win," said Lewis. We worked together collectively to display a great performance. I am happy that I was able to add to the team's success by scoring two goals,"
The scoring started with a goal from sophomore Romario Renford on an assist from Shalom Akinbulumo, Freshman Sebastian Garibay joined the fun with a goal with Heffner getting the assist. Lewis got his first goal with Heffner getting the helper again, Heffner then found the back of the net connecting on a pass from Garibay. Lewis then got his second goal to make it 5-0. Christian Morales finished the scoring out. Genus recorded eight saves.
"We handled our business," said Genus. The team was very focused and we didn't take any shortcuts. Felt good to get this first one under our belt."
The victory was the first for Coach Desmond Armstrong at Fisk. The Bulldogs will now travel to Huntsville, Alabama in a rmatch against Oakwood on Friday.
