JACKSON, Miss. – Jayla Bibbs scored 20 points and grabbed 17 rebounds as the Fisk University Lady Bulldogs (3-5, 1-1 GCAC) won 80-60 over the Tougaloo University Lady Bulldogs in Gulf Coast their first road game in Gulf Coast Athletic Conference action from Jackson, Mississippi.
"We have been looking for someone else to step up, and Jayla did," said Fisk Head Coach Victoria Crawford. "We needed to get a win. Losing at home on Thursday hurt, but now we are 1-1. Great team win."
Fisk won the rebounding battle 51-31, with four players with at least six rebounds. They also forced 26 fouls, helping them to shoot 31 free throws, making 20 to Tougaloo going 7-of-13. Zipporah Davis added 16 for Fisk, with Maya Buckhanon chipping in with 12 points and nine rebounds. Freshman Janiesse Armstrong had 12 off the bench.
Fisk will now step out of the GCAC as they take on the University of North Alabama on Tuesday.
