Buckhanon Earns Second Straight All-American Honors
Maya Buckhanon record breaking season earns her national recognition.
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced the 2023-24 NAIA Women's Basketball All-America Teams and for the second straight season, Fisk University power forward Maya Buckhanon was voted to the team. Buckhanon, a native of Talladega, Alabama, averaged 23.0 points and 13.8 rebounds per game.
"I am elated to finish my career being named to this honor," said Buckhanon. "We had a great season, and it looks like I am leaving Fisk in good hands. I can't wait to see how this programs grows from here."
Buckhanon was named the NAIA Player of the Week twice this season. On February 17, Buckhanon scored 60 points, the most scored by female NAIA player since 1988, broke the school and Gulf Coast Athletic Conference record.
Al of the selections are made by the NAIA Women's Basketball All-America Committee and are comprised of first, second and third teams.
