Fisk University Lady Bulldogs drop tough road game in Birmingham
BIRMINGHAM. Ala. - The Fisk University Lady Bulldogs lost to NCAA Division 1 Samford University 70-54 in an afternoon affair in Birmingham, Alabama. A slow start hurt Fisk as Samford scored the first 12 points of the game and ran out to a 19-8 first quarter lead. Samford also scored 19 second quarter points to take a 38-20 advantage into the locker room.
In the second half, the Lady Bulldogs showed resilience and fought back, outscoring Samford 34-32 behind a strong performance from freshman Ari Branch, who tallied 13 second half points. Despite their efforts, Fisk couldn't get closer than 12 points as Samford maintained control throughout the contest.
Kayla Lee led the way for Fisk, scoring 17 points, while Branch finished with 15 and Kennedi Wagner added 11. The Lady Bulldogs will look to regroup and build on the positives from this game as they continue their season.
NEXT UP: The Lady Bulldogs will be back at home on Thursday and Saturday for home games against confernce foes Stillman College and Rust University.
