Lady Bulldogs Fall to Oakwood on Senior Night
Kayla Lee records a five-by-five in loss to Oakwood
NASHVILLE - Sophomore Kayla Lee put on an outstanding performance, scoring 28 points, grabbing 12 rebounds, and dishing out ten assists to record her second consecutive triple-double. Lee also contributed seven blocks and five steals, achieving a rare five-by-five—an accomplishment that highlights her versatility across the stat sheet. Freshman Ari Branch added 18 points, and sophomore Teniya Williams chipped in ten, but their efforts weren't enough as the Fisk University Lady Bulldogs (8-15, 2-8 HBCUAC) lost to the Oakwood University Ambassadors (16-7, 10-1 HBCUAC), 76-68, in HBCUAC East Division action from Nashville.
After trailing by ten at halftime, Fisk responded with a powerful 29-point third quarter, with Lee and Branch combining for 22 points to cut Oakwood's lead and enter the fourth quarter down just five. Oakwood appeared to seize control with an 11-point advantage midway through the final period, but the Lady Bulldogs answered with a fierce 9-0 run, narrowing the gap to 70-68.
Despite their comeback efforts, two late three-point baskets by Oakwood's Lydia Joshia, who finished with 11 points, sealed the win for the Ambassadors. Trenisha Adams led Oakwood with 23 points, Kamaria Murray scored 19, and Saniyah Keys contributed 11 points and eleven rebounds. Dee Scott, the only Fisk senior celebrating Senior Night, grabbed 11 rebounds.
The Lady Bulldogs will play their final home game on Monday when they take on Wilberforce University.
