BOWLING GREEN, OH. - After a strong fight at the quad meet at SEMO on Friday, the Fisk University Lady Bulldog gymnastics team look forward to competing on Sunday in Bowling Green, Ohio.
While football fans prepare to watch the Super Bowl, Fisk gymnasts will try to approve on multiple season high scores achieved at SEMO. Now Fisk will compete in a tri meet against the host Bowling Green State University Falcons and the Wilberforce University Bulldogs. Live scoring can be found on the Virtius platform.
"Adjustments made were a focus key in fighting for every tenth and pushing each teammate to achieve a new goal with each turn," said Fisk head coach Nuriya Mack. "This will be yet another test for us to get better. I am looking for each gymnast to take their routines to the next level."
Lineup Outlook
Given that it is a double meet weekend, Fisk looks to put their best foot forward while also maintaining safe lineups for their athletes in the middle of the season. Most lineups will remain similar to those used on Friday to keep up some consistency.
Floor Exercise
The Bulldogs will switch a few things up in their floor lineup following their performance at SEMO. Freshman Kennedi Johnson is to start the Bulldogs off, followed by fellow freshman Makia Rosado. Seniors Liberty Mora, Aliyah Reed-Hammon, and sophomore Ciniah Rosby anchor the middle of the lineup with consistency and composure. To finish out the rotation, senior Zyia Coleman will attempt to bring energy and power.
Vault
After a strong vault day at SEMO, Fisk will not make too many changes to the lineup from the last competition. Johnson is slated to start off and set the standard for the team. Freshman Hadassah Diggs, Rosby, and Rosado are to follow with consistency. Senior Aliyah Reed-Hammon provides power later in the lineup before classmate Allie Berkley wraps up the rotation as one of the Bulldogs' most consistent vaulters.
Uneven Bars
Fisk will continue to push for every improvement on bars. Sophomore Aiyana Thomas and Coleman will lead off, followed by Rosado and Rosby standing strong in the middle of the lineup. Johnson and Diggs complete the rotation as the Bulldogs look to hit every handstand and stick every landing.
Balance Beam
Mora will start Fisk off strongly in the lead spot of the beam lineup. Followed by Junior Sophia Pratt, Rosby, and Berkley; all athletes who time and time again prove their elegance and confidence within this event. Reed-Hammon and Johnson complete the rotation with an accumulation of hard work and focus.
