SHREVEPORT, La. - The Fisk University Lady Bulldog Gymnastic Team started their dual meet weekend with a bang, sweeping the first leg in Shreveport with a strong performance against the Wilberforce University Bulldogs (182.175) and the host Centenary College Ladies (188.325). The win gave the Lady Bulldogs
"Losing at Wilberforce brought a focus back for us," said Fisk head coach Nuriya Mack. "We knew that we didn't perform well. We only traveled eight and they all contributed."
Fisk (188.500) opened on balance beam, presenting a lineup of precise routines. Junior Sophia Pratt led the event with a well-executed routine, scoring 9.55. Senior Allie Berkley continued the momentum with a 9.525. Junior Ciniah Rosby demonstrated consistency with a 9.65. Freshman duo Hadassah Diggs (9.05) and Kennedi Johnson (9.425) delivered commendable performances, reflecting the diligence evident in practice sessions. Senior Aliyah Reed-Hammon concluded the rotation with a solid 9.125.
During the floor exercise, the Bulldogs exhibited both energy and technical proficiency. Johnson initiated the rotation with a 9.425, followed by Reed-Hammon's dynamic performance earning 9.55. Berkley (9.2) and Rosby (9.6) maintained the team's standard through consistent routines. Senior Zyia Coleman achieved the highest floor score of the meet with a 9.675. Sophomore Aiyana Thomas contributed her second appearance this season with an elegant routine.
Vault continued to highlight Fisk's strengths. Johnson began the sequence with an impressive 9.6. Coleman (9.525) and Diggs (9.575) maintained high performance levels, while Rosby added a 9.7. Reed-Hammon concluded vault with a clean 9.675.
On uneven bars, Sophomore Aiyana Thomas started the team off effectively. Coleman followed with a score of 9.375, and Rosby delivered a 9.625. Johnson and Pratt sustained the team's performance, with Diggs completing the rotation at 9.2.
Rosby won the All Around title with an imressive 38.575 score, with Johnson taking second with a 37.050.
The Fisk Bulldogs remain focused as they prepare for their next competition. The team will compete again at the HBCU Classic in Atlanta on Sunday, March 8th at 3:00 PM.
