Volleyball to Honor Seniors in Regular Season Finale
NASHVILLE—Tonight, the Fisk University Lady Bulldog volleyball team will be trying to accomplish something that has eluded them for quite some time: winning their 20th game in a season. It won't be an easy task, as they will be taking on the Fred-Hardeman Lady Lions (12-13) in non-conference play from the Henderson A. Johnson Arena.
The game will honor seniors on both teams. Libero Jadyen Brackins has been a steady force for Fisk on the backline for the past three seasons. The senior from Spring Hill, Tennessee, leads the GCAC in digs. Classmate Iyanla Thigpen has anchored the front wall. The 6'2 middle from Chicago leads the team with 224 kills and an extremely efficient .274 hitting percentage. She will need six blocks tonight to reach 100.
Freed defeated the Lady Bulldogs in straight sets on September 1. The Lady Bulldogs have struggled against teams outside of conference play, going 6-9. During this six-game homestand, they have dropped two of their three home losses on the season.
Fisk sits in the third position in the conference, one game behind Dillard University. Dillard will be highly favored when they take on a no-win SUNO team on Sunday. Talladega will be the top seed as they are finished in conference play.
