Lady Bulldog Trio Named AVCA All-Southeast Region
The American Volleyball Coaches Association released their all-region teams, and three Fisk University Lady Bulldogs made the cut. Senior Jadyn Brackins finished a banner career as a Lady Bulldog as a first-team all-region recipient. Freshman Nebthet Re joined Brackins on the first team and was named the Freshman of the Year. Senior Iyanla Thigpen was named honorable mention.
The Lady Bulldogs had one of their best seasons in a long time, winning 21 games and finishing second in the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference for the first time in school history in all sports. Brackins finished her career as the two-time GCAC Defensive Player of the Year. This year she scooped up 580 digs. Re, was named Freshman of the Year by the conference. She showed her versatility by getting 806 assists, 129 kills, 315 digs, and 48 aces. Her 190.5 points ranked her second on the team. Thigpen was dominant in the middle tallying 274 kills, and 109 blocks giving her a team-leading 356 points.
"This showcases the hard work not only the three that were honored, but the whole team," said Fisk Head Coach Jessica Enderle. "We made some big strides this season. The leadership shown by Jadyn and Iyanla proved how valuable they were. Now it is time for players like Nebthet and others to run with it. The future is bright. I can't wait to see how much we progress from here."
