Jones Earns Weekly State Honor
Reagan Jones becomes the first Fisk volleyball player to be honored by the Tennessee Sports Writers Association.
NASHVILLE (September 25, 2024) – Fisk University Outside Hitter Reagan Jones won this week's Volleyball Player of the Week by the Tennessee Sports Writer's Association. Jones collected 65 kills over 14 sets across four matches. The Franklin, Tenn., native registered 16 kills in a five-set with over Talladega – Fisk's first victory against the team since 2017. Jones also had 16 kills in a five-set loss to Cumberland while collecting nine digs against Talladega and eight against Cumberland.
Jones became the first Fisk volleyball player to win the award. She joins former Fisk athletes Cam Lewis (men's basketball) and women's basketball players Maya Buckhanon (three-time winner), Stevonna Scott, and Janine Davis to be honored. She is only the second volleyball player from an HBCU to win, joining Tennessee State University's Jayla Holcombe, who won last season.
