HENDERSON, Tenn. (August 29, 2025) - The stage is now set at the Freed Hardeman Labor Day Tournament, where the Fisk University Lady Bulldog Volleyball Team is slated to compete in four games over two days, commencing with a doubleheader today against the University of Michigan-Dearborn and the tournament hosts. Tomorrow they will take on Crowley's Ridge and the nightcap will be against UT Southern.
Fisk's recent surge of momentum was matched only by the accolades that followed their stellar performances. This week, four standout Bulldogs swept all five of the HBCUAC's weekly honors—a testament to the team's depth, talent, and dedication. Shelby Chamblin was celebrated as both Attacker and Newcomer of the Week, underscoring her immediate impact on the court. Nialah Gupton, a defensive stalwart, earned Defender of the Week honors for her relentless hustle anchoring the back row. At the net, Kaia Barnett's orchestration of the offense earned her Setter of the Week, while Paige Browning's impressive debut saw her named Freshman of the Week.
Adding to the celebratory mood, the midweek victory over Bryan College marked a milestone for head coach Jessica Enderle—her 100th career win at the helm of Fisk. The achievement stands as a testament to her leadership and the culture of excellence she has fostered within the program. With individual and team accomplishments stacking up, the Lady Bulldogs carry not just momentum, but also collective pride, into the season's next chapter.
Dawg Bites:
- Nialah Gupton is 20 digs away from getting her 1,000th career dig.
- In the win over Bryan, Nashville native Niamiah Taylor recorded her first career kill.
- Nebteth Re is coming back into form after missing most of last season due to injury. She dished out 24 assists in the four-set loss to Cumberland on Tuesday.
