Volleyball Looks to Extend Winning Streak with Three Game Home Weekend
Lady Bulldogs Set Sights on Conference Supremacy as Homestand Continues
NASHVILLE (October 16, 2025) - The Fisk University Lady Bulldogs Volleyball Team will be back in action for three games this weekend and is primed for an exciting three-game home stretch this weekend. as they seek to build on their impressive winning streak and solidify their lead in the HBCU East Division standings.
Riding a nine-game winning streak, Fisk's (20-5, 6-0 HBCUAC) seven game homestand started on October 9 with a straight set win over Oakwood University. On Friday, they will take on Stillman College followed by a Saturday doubleheader versus Talladega College and a nonconference game against Cumberland University, Fisk will rely on their depth and recent momentum to navigate a pivotal weekend.
Last season, Stillman pushed Fisk to a five-set thriller in the conference quarterfinals before ultimately falling. Saturday brings a doubleheader for the Lady Bulldogs as they take on Talladega College, another East Division opponent, followed by Cumberland at 3 PM. Fisk previously defeated Talladega in a hard-fought four-set match earlier this season. With victories over Stillman and Talladega, the Lady Bulldogs could clinch the East Division outright, marking the first division championship for any Fisk team since joining the GCAC/HBCUAC.
The match against Cumberland should be interesting. After dominating the first set in their matchup in August 25-9, Fisk almost took a 2-0 lead, running out to an 8-3 advantage. Cumberland rallied back to take the lead, but a late surge by Fisk tied the score at 20. Cumberland ultimately regained control to win the set and tie the match at one, then went on to claim the final two sets for the victory.
The team's determination and momentum set the stage for a pivotal weekend as they aim to further cement their position atop the conference standings.
