SHREVEPORT, La. (March 7, 2025) - The Fisk University Bulldog Gymnastics team is on a roll. They have won the last three meets outright and against their last five opponents. Coming off winning against an NCAA DI and D2 in host Southeast Missouri State University and the University of Bridgeport, Fisk is eagerly anticipated duo meet at the Centenary College of Louisiana on March 8th.
This competition promises to be an exhilarating showcase of talent and athleticism, providing the Bulldogs with a prime opportunity to highlight their skills and continue their remarkable season.
"We can't sit on our laurels because we have been having success," said interim head coach Nuriya Mack. "Centenary is a great challenge for us. We need to continue to get one step better than last week."
BEAMING WITH SUCCESS
The Fisk Beam Team gave them the jumpstart needed last week at SEMO. In the opening event, Aliyah Reed-Hammon led the way with a 9.85 to take the top spot. With Morgan Price taking a recovery week off, Reed-Hammon will be looked upon once again for a strong showing. All Arounders Allie Berkley (9.8) and Ciniah Rosby (9.775) along with Liberty Mora (9.775) will need to continue their strong scores. Kaylei McDonald and Zyia Coleman had a strong week in practice. They round out the six who will compete.
FLOOR LOOKS TO EXCEED TOP SCORE
Last week, 48.925 on Floor was the highest in program history. Price's 9.875 tied for first and set the tone for the team's performance. Berkley (9.8), Rosby (9.775) and Mora (9.775) all had strong scores at SEMO. The trio along with veterans Jada Reese and McDonald will need a strong effort. Freshman Kendall Guy has been added to the lineup, with senior Naimah Muhammad scheduled to do an exhibition.
FRESHMEN LOOK TO HELP OUT ON VAULT
Guy and fellow freshman Aiyanna Thomas have been steadily showing why they were highly touted coming into the season. Guy has been reliable on vault while Thomas has earned a spot in the lineup this week. Reed-Hammon tied for third last week. She will be joined by Berkley, Reese, and Rosby.
BAR SWINGS BULLDOG TO PROMINIESCE
Last week 48.25 was the highest in program history. This week's lineup includes Thomas. Veteran Kiara Richmon along with sophomore Sydney Smith will be important points to grab for Fisk. Berkley and Rosby will look to keep up with their consistency. Junior Zyia Coleman's energy and dynamics will be a treat to watch.
